The event kicked off with a yoga class with Annie from Mind Body Bowl, and then hosted a whole range of talks with the leaders in the industry: Besides the amazing Hemsley + Hemsley sisters, Niomi Smart and Madeleine Shaw also guests from a bit further away, think Stockholm and Copenhagen, came to attend the festival. I was super excited to finally “meet” (well, I actually only saw her briefly) Sarah Britton from My New Roots and the super-couple Luise and David, obviously accompanied by their cute kids, from Green Kitchen Stories. This may sound a little nerdy, not to even mention very childish, too, but meeting the people, who you’ve been following on their blogs and social media for years, in real life is actually pretty cool!
I listened to Melissa from Hemsley&Hemsley and Madeleine Shaw talking about how to transform a blog into a business, I had delicious raw, vegan and gluten-free Millionaire bites by Livia’s Kitchen and a super satisfying zucchini noodle bowl by Nama Foods, and I got to know to a bunch of interesting people, who either have their own food businesses in London or who are yogis, foodies or “fitties” like me and came to the festival as visitors.
Given my current situation – think about the book I am about to finish writing so soon! – I was all the more excited for the festival, and left it feeling so lucky to be living in a city which is home to so many amazing, inspiring and hard-working people in the food and health industry. Honestly, I am currently feeling a little tired and overwhelmed by the amount of work this book, for which I am looking into finding a publisher next, if anyone has a hint or is interested, means at the moment; thus, listening to Madeleine’s, Melissa’s and Niomi’s stories about their very own ways into the business was very motivating for me to just keep going, going and going.
